Sheet S1 · Specification
Privacy policy.
A specification of what Dogear does with your data. Short answer: nothing leaves your phone.
Summary
Dogear collects no data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code. The app makes no network calls. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone.
What stays on your device
Your books, reading sessions, page counts, streaks and yearly totals are stored only on your iPhone. Dogear shares this data with its own Home Screen widget through an app group on the same device, so the widget can show your reading. Nothing leaves the phone.
We, Kebzi Haus, never receive any of it. We cannot see, recover or delete your data, because we never have it.
Permissions and why
- Camera — used only for Shelf Scan, when you point the camera at a shelf. Book spines are recognised on the device. Camera images are not saved and not sent anywhere.
Dogear asks for no other permissions. You can turn camera access off at any time in Settings → Dogear; everything except Shelf Scan keeps working.
Purchases
Dogear Plus is sold as an in-app purchase: monthly ($1.99), yearly ($9.99, with a 7-day free trial) or lifetime ($19.99). Prices are in US dollars; local prices may differ.
Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive your name, email, card details or Apple Account. The app only learns whether Plus is active on your device, through Apple’s StoreKit. Restore Purchases is available in Dogear’s settings.
Third parties and network
None. Dogear contains no third-party SDKs and makes no network requests. Apple processes App Store purchases under Apple’s privacy policy.
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
Children
Dogear is not directed to children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
- Erase everything: delete the Dogear app. Its data, including the widget’s, is removed from your iPhone with it.
- Camera: allow or deny it in Settings → Dogear.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date, and list the change below. If Dogear ever starts collecting data, the policy will say so before that version ships.
