Restore purchases

Bought Dogear Plus on another device, or reinstalled the app? Open Dogear’s settings and tap Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought Plus with.

To cancel or change a subscription: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Dogear.

Your data on a new phone

Dogear has no account and no server, so your shelf lives only on your iPhone. When you switch phones, Apple’s own device backup or phone-to-phone transfer normally brings app data across. Before you erase the old phone, open Dogear on the new one and check that your shelf is there.

Plus is tied to your Apple Account: use Restore Purchases on the new phone.

Shelf Scan and the camera

• If Shelf Scan shows a black screen, turn on camera access: Settings → Dogear → Camera.
• Light the shelf evenly and hold the phone parallel to the spines.
• Scan a few books at a time if a crowded shelf is hard to read.
• The free shelf holds 20 books. When a scan goes past that, Dogear offers Plus.

Widget

• Touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, then search for Dogear.
• If the widget looks out of date, open Dogear once; the widget reads the same on-device data.

Delete your data

Delete the Dogear app from your iPhone. That removes all of its data, including the widget’s. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

System requirements

• iPhone with iOS 26 or later.
• A camera for Shelf Scan (optional; everything else works without it).
• No internet connection needed.
• Android version in development — coming soon to Google Play.
